ONLINE PRIVACY

CBC is respectful of the privacy concerns of all visitors to its sites, whether or not via the Internet. As a general policy, no personal information is automatically collected from visitors to its sites. However, certain non-personal visitor information is recorded by the standard operation of CBC's servers. This information is primarily used to provide an enhanced on-line experience for the visitor. Information tracked includes the type of browser being used by the visitor (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer), the type of operating system (e.g., Macintosh, Windows) being used by the visitor and the domain name of the visitor's Internet service provider (e.g., America On-line, Netcom). By having this information, CBC is able to optimize its web pages automatically for each particular visitor. Other uses of this information include tracking the number of visitors to the sites; visitors are tracked only in an aggregate and non-personally-identifiable form. E-mail addresses and other personally identifiable data about visitors to this site are known to CBC only when voluntarily submitted by the visitor. Personally identifiable information may be collected as a result of a visitor voluntarily providing feedback , quoting, or enrolling. This information is retained by CBC and not sold or otherwise transferred outside the company. This information is used to support transactions made on the site.

CBC sometimes uses e-mail addresses and other personally identifiable information to contact visitors who communicate with us. For example, CBC e-mails participants that have not completed the enrollment process and need a reminder to complete for their effective date.

USE OF COOKIES

What are cookies? Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to an individual's computer for record-keeping purposes. Cookies make web surfing easier. The use of cookies is a standard industry practice that is used by many major Internet websites. By showing how and when visitors to a website use it, cookies help us see which areas are popular and which are not. Many improvements and updates to a website are based on information that is most easily tracked with cookies.

EXAMPLES OF HOW CBC USES COOKIES

A cookie lets CBC's computers remember that you've registered, which allows CBC to speed up your future activities at CBC sites. Similarly, CBC uses temporary cookies to help you navigate through some of the database driven areas of this site. Once you leave the website, these cookies will expire. If you decline to use cookies, you may have difficulty navigating through some parts of the website.

HOW CBC DOES NOT USE COOKIES

CBC never uses cookies to retrieve information from your computer that was not originally sent in a cookie. Except as described below, CBC does not use information transferred through cookies for any promotional or marketing purposes, nor is that information shared with any third parties whatsoever. CBC does not use cookies to identify specific individuals, except in such cases as private subscriber areas of the website.

The use of advertising cookies sent by unrelated parties is standard in the Internet industry. CBC does not control these cookies and they are not subject to our policies.

Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you'd prefer, you can set yours to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. However, it is possible that some parts of the site will not function properly if you do so.

By using this site, you signify your assent to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these Terms of Use, please do not use the site. CBC reserves the right, at CBC's discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of these Terms of Use at any time. Please check this page periodically for changes.
